Speed Fibre Group unveiled as Strategic Connectivity Partner for the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2026

  • New ‘Speed Fibre Group Connected Horizons Award’ will be presented to a project that demonstrates innovation in digital connectivity
  • 11 Speed Fibre Group team members volunteering at the four-day exhibition

Speed Fibre Group, Ireland’s leading telecoms infrastructure provider and the parent company of telecommunications companies Enet and Magnet Plus, has been unveiled as the Strategic Connectivity Partner for the 2026 Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

The move will involve delivering the robust, high-performance connectivity required for the thousands of students, teachers, exhibitors, and judges to participate and innovate at the event in the RDS, which takes place from 7th to 10th of January 2026.

Through Enet’s extensive national network and technical expertise, the Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition will benefit from the same resilient, enterprise-grade and seamless connectivity relied on by individuals, businesses, and communities across Ireland.

As part of the partnership, Speed Fibre Group is also sponsoring the new ‘Speed Fibre Group Connected Horizons Award’. Open to all categories and age groups, the prize will be presented to a project that reflects the theme of connection or collaboration through innovation, whether digital, social, environmental, or scientific in nature.

Judges will be looking for projects that:

  • Apply creative thinking or technology to improve how we connect or share information
  • Demonstrate potential for positive real-world impact or societal change
  • Promote inclusion, accessibility, or sustainability through innovative solutions
  • Show interdisciplinary thinking, bridging STEM areas (for example, technology and social impact)

The winner of the Speed Fibre Group Connected Horizons Award will be announced at the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition Award ceremony on the afternoon of Friday, January 9, 2026, in the RDS.

In addition, 11 team members from Speed Fibre Group will be volunteering at the Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition 2026. The group previously worked at BT, which was recently acquired by Speed Fibre Group. With over 20 years’ experience volunteering at the Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, they will help provide a seamless transition from the BT sponsorship of the event to the new Stripe sponsorship.

Peter McCarthy, CEO of Speed Fibre Group, said: As one of Ireland’s leading fibre and wireless infrastructure providers, we are very proud at Speed Fibre Group to support one of the country’s most significant STEM events and play a role in supporting the next generation of STEM talent. This partnership as Strategic Connectivity Partner for the Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition aligns with our business focus on enabling innovation through reliable infrastructure, while also contributing to the continued growth of Ireland’s innovation ecosystem.

It is also significant to unveil this sponsorship as Enet celebrates 25 years in business. Today, Enet is Ireland’s largest alternative wholesale telecoms network — powering over a million people and businesses. And as we continue building the networks that will power Ireland’s digital future, we are really look forward to meeting the next generation of technologists and scientists at the Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition – and potentially working with them as they progress their career in the future.”

About Speed Fibre Group

Speed Fibre Group is Ireland’s leading telecom infrastructure provider. The company is committed to delivering cutting-edge technology and seamless communication services to individuals, businesses, and communities across the country.

Speed Fibre Group’s overall footprint spans nearly 10,000 km of fibre and 15,000+ connected buildings nationwide, including over 2,500 in Dublin and key urban centres — enabling faster service delivery and broader national reach for customers.

Speed Fibre Group consists of two operating businesses:

  • Enet is Ireland’s largest open access wholesale network and the country’s second-largest wholesale telecoms operator. Enet’s network is made up of a combination of fibre and wireless assets that, when combined, create a unique, fully integrated national network proposition. Proudly celebrating 25 years in business this year, Enet enables over 100 national and international wholesale and retail operators with carrier-grade fibre, mobile backhaul, and critical infrastructure, delivering and supporting world class data connectivity services to over one million homes and business users across Ireland. Enet also operates the Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) on behalf of the Irish State in 94 cities and towns in regional Ireland.
  • Magnet Plus is Ireland’s largest independent connectivity network, offering data connectivity, cloud-based voice solutions and managed services in Ireland and Europe based on expanded reach, network availability and customer experience. By combining network-neutrality with world-class technical knowledge, Magnet Plus utilises its fibre, wireless, 4G and 5G infrastructure to meet the exact needs of each customer, supported by outstanding customer service.

In September 2025, Speed Fibre Group completed its acquisition of BT Communications Ireland Limited, BT’s wholesale and enterprise business unit. Assets acquired include BT’s domestic network infrastructure, customer base and the internal teams supporting wholesale and business enterprises, all of which have now been integrated into the Enet and Magnet Plus operations.

With the integration of BT Communications Ireland Limited’s network, wholesale, and enterprise operations, Speed Fibre Group has brought together two leaders in the market, unlocking greater scale, deeper building connectivity, and the ability to deliver more advanced, cost-effective services nationwide.

Speed Fibre Group is owned by Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Limited, an operationally focused specialist digital infrastructure investor. The business primarily invests in the core infrastructure of the digital economy – data centres, fibre-optic networks and telecommunication and broadcast towers – in Europe and North America. The company is listed and traded on the London Stock Exchange as LON:CORD.

Speed Fibre Group was awarded the Great Place to Work Certificate for 2024, reflecting employees’ trust in the business, their pride in their work and their sense of camaraderie with colleagues. The focus of the business on fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace has also been recognised with the Investors in Diversity Silver Accreditation and an 82.9% Inclusion Score as well as being named the Best Workplace – Medium Sized at the 2025 Diversity in Business Awards.
